What does it mean to be true to you?
Back Print Page Email Page

So many people believe that if they are true to who they really are, they are being selfish!  All I would say in response to this is "how do you treat other people when you feel great?

You are more caring, kind, considerate, understanding, patience...(I could go on and on), ultimately you want to help them to feel as great as you do!  So how can it be selfish?  Quite simply it is not!

The benefits of you taking care of you are huge for ALL MANKIND!

So where do you begin?

It does not matter what being true to you means to anyone else.  What is important, is what it means to you!  So begin by asking yourself the following question:

"What does being true to me, mean to me?"

Then ask yourself… if I choose to today, to live my life where I am true to who I am, what would it mean?

·          Who would I be being in the world?

·          What would I be enjoying?

·          What would I say to myself?

·          How would I walk and talk?

·          What would my relationships be like?

·          How would I treat other people?

The following poem by Dale Wimbrow captures the whole essence of living the Being True To You Lifestyle, means to me.

The Guy in the Glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for pelf,

And the world makes you King for a day,

Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,

And see what the guy has to say.

For it isn’t your Father, Mother or Wife,

Whose judgment upon you must pass,

The feller whose verdict counts most in your life

Is the guy staring back from the glass.

He’s the feller to please, never mind all the rest,

For he’s with you clear up to the end,

And you’ve passed you most dangerous, difficult test

If the guy in the glass is your friend.

You may be like Jack Horner and “chisel” a plum,

And think you’re a wonderful guy,

But the man in the glass say’s your only a bum,

If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,

And get pats on the back as you pass,

But your reward will be heartaches and tears,

If you’ve cheated the guy in the glass.

Make a commitment to you!  Choose and decide NOW to no longer cheat the guy in the glass, you, and LIVE AN EXTRAORDINARY LIFE!
